Kean Guitarfest 2024 celebrates the classical guitar in all its splendor. The festival will showcase regional guitar ensembles and culminate in a recital by internationally acclaimed classical guitarist Celil Refik Kaya.

Kean-NJIO Orchestra

The Kean-NJIO Orchestra is an exciting collaboration between Kean University and the New Jersey Intergenerational Orchestra (NJIO).

Jazz Ensemble

Kean Jazz Ensemble provides an opportunity for students to develop their musical skills to be successful jazz ensemble musicians and directors. The ensemble will explore genres from the Big Band Era, the Jazz Rock Era, and current jazz literature. Music levels and composers will be discussed during the semester for each middle and high school grade.

Choral Concert

The Kean University Choral Concert will feature the Kean University Concert Choir and Community Chorale under the direction of Dr. Rachel Carlson, Kean’s Director of Choral Activities, and a guest performance by the Thomas Jefferson Arts Academy A Cappella Choir, under the direction of Kelly Cubias.

Wind Ensemble

The Symphonic Wind Ensemble opens with Vincent Persichetti’s Serenade for 10 Winds, composed when he was only 14. Persichetti went on to be one of the most influential American composers and composition teachers of the twentieth century.
